2021-22 Big Ten Conference Rankings
174 pounds
In the last Big Ten dual meet of the season, an upset shook up the rankings significantly here at 174 pounds. Mikey Labriola scrambled his way to a 5-4 win over Michael Kemerer. With Carter Starocci having the win over Kemerer and Logan Massa, he stays at the #1. Massa has the head-to-head win over Labriola to put himself in the #2 spot. Despite Labriola’s loss to Gerrit Nijenhuis earlier in the season, his head-to-head win over Kemerer earned him the #3 above Kemerer. With that in mind, if this is how the Big Ten seeding goes, we could see an NCAA final rematch between Starocci and Kemerer in the Big Ten semifinals in what could be another classic matchup in their rivalry. This weight at the Big Ten tournament will also play a huge part in seeding of the top 8 at NCAAs, with five of the top seven guys in the country coming out of the Big Ten at 174 pounds.
