2021-22 Atlantic Coast Conference Rankings
174 pounds
The final dual weekend of the year was total fireworks in the ACC at 174 pounds. Prior to last Friday night, Hayden Hidlay had never lost in an ACC dual or by an ACC opponent throughout his entire career at N.C. State. Clay Lautt brought that streak to an end after hitting a Dylan Ness-esque Gator Bacon and picking up the fall in a match Hidlay had been winning 3-0 with riding time. Hidlay didn’t let that loss hold him back, however, as he was able to pick up the winning sudden-victory takedown off an arm spin to a single leg to defeat Mehki Lewis on Sunday evening. This last weekend of results made for a ranker's delight at 174 pounds, with Lautt defeating Hidlay, Hidlay defeating Lewis, and Lewis having a previous win over Lautt. With the circumstances of the Hidlay-Lautt match in mind, we went with Hidlay, Lewis and Lautt in that order.
