USHL Power Rankings: Lincoln, Dubuque Ride Torrid Stretches ...
Find out which of the USHL's 16 teams rise and fall over the course of the long regular season.
Welcome to FloHockey’s monthly Clark Cup contender power rankings. After a five-week hiatus, FloHockey's rankings have returned, and plenty has changed throughout the USHL.
1. Lincoln Stars / Previous Ranking: 7
Record: 28-11-1-0
The Stars are currently riding a nine-game win streak, 10-game point streak and lead the USHL in several categories – wins (28), points (57), goals scored (175) and goals against (107), among others. Lincoln’s power play (30.5%) also ranks second in the USHL and Rocky Russo’s club owns the league’s third-best home win percentage (.750).
Jack Pechar continues to produce and Daniel Shlaine owns a nine-game point streak, as the UMD commit has 14 points in that stretch. Pechar (17-24-41) and Shlaine (14-26-40) rank seventh and ninth in the USHL with 41 and 40 points respectively. Dashel Oliver also owns a nine-game point streak and has 17 goals this season, along with the league’s best plus/minus by a forward at plus-25.
2. Dubuque Fighting Saints / PR: 3
Record: 28-11-0-1
The Fighting Saints lead the Eastern Conference and are on Lincoln’s heels for the league’s best win percentage. Dubuque is 7-2-0-1 over its past 10 and has been one of the most consistent teams all year.
Matthew Desiderio continues to impress on the blue line and currently leads all USHL defensemen in goals (12), and ranks second in points (31). Michael Barron has a team-leading 33 points (16-17-33) and Jan Spunar has been tremendous between the pipes. Spunar owns the USHL’s second-best save percentage (.914) and his 17 wins are tied for third.
3. Sioux Falls Stampede / PR: 4
Record: 25-10-2-1
The Stampede have been hit hard by injury and illness of late, yet Sioux Falls has weathered the storm. The Stampede are 5-4-1 over their past 10 but got off to a tremendous start this season and remain second in the west – just four points behind Lincoln with two games in hand.
Ethan Wyttenbach has been one of the USHL’s top rookies and leads the way in both goals (20) and points (43), and he continues to round out his overall game. Wyttenbach is one of just five USHL players with 20 or more goals and his 43 points also rank sixth among USHL skaters. Sioux Falls’ Weiner Dog Night is right around the corner as well.

4. Madison Capitols / PR: 1
Record: 22-11-2-1
The Capitols have won four straight and six of their past 10 and Madison’s .653 win percentage ranks fourth in the USHL. Madison has also played the league’s fewest games (36) and has out-scored its opponents 141-109.
Ryker Lee continues his tremendous rookie season and is tied for the team goal lead (18) and leads the way with 39 points, which ranks second among USHL rookies. Bobby Cowan continues his stellar season as well and is up to 18-15-33 through 31 games.
5. Muskegon Lumberjacks / PR: 2
Record: 23-11-3-4
Muskegon has also endured an up-and-down month and the Lumberjacks are 4-4-1-1 over their past 10. However, Muskegon remains just two points behind Dubuque for the Eastern Conference lead and has been one of the league’s best defensive teams.
Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev has been one of the league’s top goaltenders all season and owns the USHL’s best save percentage (.917) and fourth-best GAA (2.52), and rookie Tynan Lawrence has 15 goals and an 11-game point streak. Muskegon is just two weeks removed from a 15-goal weekend against the NTDP U17 team as well.
6. Youngstown Phantoms / PR: 6
Record: 24-14-0-1
Youngstown has won four straight and earned points in eight of its past 10 (7-2-0-1), and the Phantoms have scored 25 goals during their four-game heater. Evan Jardine had a four-goal, five-point weekend and leads the way with 15 goals while Jamison Sluys has 24 points through his first 18 games with the Phantoms.
Youngstown remains one of the league’s best teams on home ice and its .765 home win percentage ranks second in the USHL.
7. Waterloo Black Hawks / PR: 8
Record: 20-10-5-4
The Black Hawks are 8-1-1 over their past 10 and have climbed to third in the Western Conference. Waterloo has also won four straight and they’ve enjoyed their success on the road too, as Waterloo has played eight of its last 10 games away from Young Arena.
Teddy Townsend has four goals over his past three games and a team-leading 30 points and Waterloo’s 113 goals allowed rank third in the USHL. Waterloo also bolstered its lineup this week by acquiring forward Hunter Ramos, who led Omaha with 24 points.

8. Fargo Force / PR: 5
Record: 21-15-2-2
Fargo is coming off a 3-2 win in Omaha but the Force are 3-7-0 over their past 10 and have dropped to fifth in the Western Conference with 46 points. Fargo has scored two goals or less in six of its past nine and its 123 goals rank 11th in the USHL.
However, Fargo still owns the league’s top penalty kill (86%) and has remained one of the league’s better defensive teams. Alan Lendak is 15-9-0-1 with a 2.50 GAA and .911 save percentage.
9. Sioux City Musketeers / PR: 9
Record: 21-15-2-4
Landen Gunderson continues his breakout season and leads the USHL with 53 points, and he’s one of just five USHL skaters with 20 or more goals. Gunderson has five goals and two assists over his past three games and is a big reason why Sioux City remains in the thick of the Western Conference race.
The Musketeers are 7-2-1-0 over their past 10 games and sit fourth in the standings with 48 points. Giacomo Martino and Tate Pritchard, who have spent much of the season playing alongside Gunderson, have 46 and 38 points respectively.
10. Green Bay Gamblers / PR: 12
Record: 22-18-1-0
Green Bay has the USHL’s top two goal scorers in Will Zellers (COL) and Aidan Park, who have lit the lamp 29 and 25 times. Park and Zellers rank second and third in points too, as the two forwards have 47 and 46.
Park also has a USHL-leading 14 power-play tallies and Green Bay has the USHL’s top power play at 33%. Green Bay went 2-1-0 against Muskegon last weekend and is 6-4-0 over its past 10.
11. Tri-City Storm / PR: 10
Record: 18-18-2-1
The Storm were swept by Chicago last weekend and are 4-6-0 over their past 10, and Tri-City holds just a three-point edge on a playoff spot. Tri-City has been held to two or fewer goals in four straight and its 146 goals allowed rank 13th in the USHL.
Artemi Nizameyev has just one goal over his past 11 games but remains third in the USHL with 23 on the season, and Nolan Roed isn’t far behind with 18. Roed has eight points (4-4-8) over his past seven games.
12. Des Moines Buccaneers / PR: 11
Record: 17-21-2-0
The Bucs are 4-6-0 over their past 10 and were out-scored by Waterloo 9-3 last weekend. Offense remains an issue for Matt Curley’s club, as Des Moines has 118 goals on the season and sits seventh in the west.
However, Jack Kernan remains a bright spot and has a team-leading 19 goals, and he’s scored in two of his past three contests.
13. Cedar Rapids RoughRiders / PR: 13
Record: 17-20-1-2
The RoughRiders fell to Dubuque Wednesday night, 3-1, and are 4-5-0-1 over their past 10. However, Cedar Rapids holds a 10-point lead over Chicago for the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot.
Cedar Rapids has played well defensively of late but struggles to generate offense, and its 108 goals rank second-to-last in the USHL. However, CR added forward John McNelis from Sioux Falls this week, which could help spark some additional offense.

14. Chicago Steel / PR: 15
Record: 12-24-3-0
The Steel have a three-game point streak (2-0-1) and are coming off a pair of wins at Tri-City, but Chicago is still 3-6-1 over its past 10 and has struggled mightily this season.
Chicago has been out-scored 161-119 and those 161 goals are the second most in the USHL. Although they swept last weekend’s games in Kearney, the Steel have struggled on the road too, where they’re 5-15-1 this season and 2-8-0 over their past 10. Rookie Teddy Mutryn has been a bright spot and has 15 goals.
15. NTDP / PR: 14
Record: 11-23-1-2
The NTDP has dropped six straight and is 3-5-0-2 over its past 10 in USHL play, and it’s especially been tough sledding for the U17s. The NTDP has allowed a USHL-worst 185 goals, 31 of which have come over the U17’s past four games. The NTDP is 1-8-0-1 over its past 10 home games.
JP Hurlbert (2026) has a team-leading 19 points (13-6-19) in USHL play and is the only NTDP skater with a double-digit goal total or more than a dozen points in USHL action.
16. Omaha Lancers / PR: 16
Record: 6-28-4-1
The Lancers are riding a 21-game winless skid (0-18-2-1), they’ve been out-scored 155-77 and they’re the only USHL club with less than 100 goals – 31 behind the next closest team (Cedar Rapids, 108). Omaha has struggled to field a complete lineup as of late too, dressing 10 or even nine forwards at times, and both their goalies are now gone in Kam Hendrickson (trade) and Mikhail Yegorov (NCAA). Along with several of their top forwards.
Omaha’s last win came on Nov. 16 and the Lancers’ 17 points are less than half of the next closest team in the Western Conference (Des Moines). It's been another lackluster year from Omaha’s ownership and a group of fans were seen wearing ‘PICOZZI SELL THE TEAM’ t-shirts this weekend – a sign of the times for what was once arguably the USHL’s premier franchise.
