We are rounding the home stretch of the 2024-25 NCAA D1 wrestling season, but that doesn't stop the upsets!

The undefeated #1 ranked Nittany Lions of Penn State are in Jersey to wrestle the #14 Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Penn State will be very large favorites, as they will be all year in all their dual meets and in the NCAA Championships in the team title race.

It's hard to overstate how much exciting college wrestling took place this past weekend. All seven conferences held their championships over the last few days and determined the majority of the qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Championships that will take place in less than two weeks in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Big Ten, the nation's toughest and deepest college wrestling conference will hold their championship on Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10 in the Xfinity Center on the University of Maryland's College Park campus, and no we have the pressed for the tournament!

Top-ranked Penn State won nine of 10 matches over Rutgers, including two falls and a tech. The Nittany Lions won 35-3 at home in the Bryce Jordan Center on Monday, February 12.

All the upsets based on the latest rankings from the 14th week of the 2023-24 NCAA D1 college wrestling season. Al the usual caveats apply. Some results that look like upsets now won't look like upsets at a later date.

Another tumultuous week of NCAA D1 wrestling produced many upsets, particularly in the top 10! All the usual caveats apply, that which looks like an upset this week may not look like one by the end of the season, or even by next week!

When a sport that is closer to the heart than others, such as NCAA wrestling, is in the offseason and removed from the limelight, it can often feel like time stands still.

As far as pre-season predictions are concerned, it seems likely that Northern Iowa’s Parker Keckeisen and Penn State’s Bernie Truax will meet in the 2024 NCAA Championship finals.
