A native of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, Romero was a four time Ohio state champion for Mechanicsburg. A recipient of the Dave Schultz high school excellence award in 2017, Romero amassed a career record of 202-3 going undefeated his last two seasons of high school.

Gavin Hoffman, Ohio State starter at 197 gets hurt in a Friday night dual against Penn State. Freshman Luke Geog gets the call from head coach Tom Ryan that he will travel to Chicago with the team for a dual meet against Northwestern on Sunday afternoon.
