Kyle Snyder Wanted Sadulaev At Yarygin
Jan 26, 2017
One year ago, 2015 World Champion Kyle Snyder traveled half way around the globe to Krasnoyarsk, Russia to compete in the Yarygin. Located in remote regions of Siberia, Krasnoyarsk is a harsh environment to visit in January.
During the filming of Prepared to Fight: The Yarygin, Kyle Snyder walks through the frozen tundra from a training session to the hotel. During the trek he reveals that he came to the Yarygin because an American hadn't won it in a long time and he was hoping to wrestle against the #1 pound-for-pound wrestler on the planet, Russia's Abdulrashid Sadulaev.
Snyder explains how he put together his freestyle competition schedule, which included a trip to the Medved where he hoped he might get to face Iran's Reza Yazdani. That, of course, didn't happen. But you have to admire the mentality that Kyle Snyder brings to competition. He wants to face the best and that is one of the reasons he has proven himself to be the best, two years in a row.
The United States is once again sending a squad over to compete in the Yarygin, stay up to date with the tournament and follow along with the brackets here.
