Five Reasons You Should Watch The Cadet Worlds On Flo

The 2021 Cadet World Championships will be broadcast LIVE from Budapest on FloWrestling July 19-25. Here are five reasons you should watch.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

Bo Bassett and Jimmy Mullen qualified for freestyle and Greco-Roman in their respective weights — and they plan to compete in both styles. Bassett will compete at 45 kilograms — the lightest international weight class — while Mullen will compete at 110 kg (the heaviest). Both have the potential to be big stars in college and beyond. That’s if Mullen wrestles. The New Jersey sophomore already has a full-ride scholarship offer from Rutgers to play football.

REVENGE

Amit Elor didn’t get what she wanted at the 2019 Cadet World Championships. She won a bronze medal, dropping her semifinal match to Honoka Nakai of Japan, 3-1. Elor was 15 at the time and one of the youngest competitors in the field. Now, at the age of 17, she’s one of the oldest. Her run through the Cadet and Junior World Team Trials says all you need to know.

All six of her matches in the 69-kilogram Cadet division ended by fall or technical superiority with times of — in order — :37, :49, :51, :20, :21, :24.

All six of her matches in the 68-kilogram Junior division also ended early with times of — in order — :42, :22, :32, 2:14, 1:30, 2:03.

PREDICTING THE FUTURE

You never know who will emerge from the Cadet World Championships — domestically and internationally. Many of the most successful wrestlers in the world competed at this tournament, which is why you’ll want to find out who they are before they become household names.

Jon Kozak broke it down in the following article
