The McKendree women's wrestling program has had quite a week. Shelby Moore, the #2 overall prep wrestler in the country, committed to the Bearcats four days ago. Today, head coach Alexio Garcia picked up Destiny Rodriguez, the #3 overall high school wrestler in the country.

Rodriguez, a senior at West Linn High School in Oregon, is the top 152-pounder in the land. She made the announcement with an Instagram post that said: "I am excited to announce that I have decided to continue my academic and wrestling career at Mckendree University. Thank you to my parents and all my coaches for making this possible. Go bearcats."

The future Bearcat made the 2022 U20 World team after winning a 16U National title in 2019 and a Junior National title in 2021. She is also a three-time Oregon state champion who will go for her fourth title in 2023.

McKendree seems to be making all the right moves during the recruiting process so far. The Bearcats have won the first three National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (2020-22) and are seeking their fourth title in a row in 2023.

"I'm really excited to continue working with Coach Garcia but now I'm on the college level," Rodriguez said. "I'm looking forward to working with some of the best wrestlers in the country as we are all pursuing our academic, national title, and World team goals."
