Trent Hidlay and Jacob Cardenas won silver medals and Anthony Cassioppi won a bronze on the final day of the U23 World Championships.

U23 World Championships Match Notes - Day 7

Americans Trent Hidlay (86 kg) and Jacob Cardenas (92 kg) go for the gold while Anthony Cassioppi (125 kg) wrestles for bronze on the final day of the U23 World Championships. The action begins at noon Eastern. 

GOLD MEDAL MATCH (86 kg): Tatsuya Shirai (JPN) over Trent Hidlay (USA), 3-3 

First period: First point goes to Hidlay on a step-out for a 1-0 lead 30 seconds into the bout. Hidlay snags his second point on an activity clock violation. Shirai scores a step-out with 15 seconds left in the period to cut the lead in half. Hidlay leads 2-1 at the break. 

Second period: Shirai scores on a high crotch to take a 3-2 lead with 2:15 to go. Hidlay picks up a point on a caution and one but Shirai still leads, 3-3, on criteria with 7.6 seconds to go. Hidlay chases Shirai around the mat but Shirai holds on for the 3-3 win. Hidlay wins the silver medal. 

GOLD MEDAL MATCH (92 kg): Amir Firouzpour (IRI) tech Jacob Cardenas (USA), 10-0

First period: Firouzpour strikes first with a step-out point with 1:38 left in the period. Another step-out point with 1:15 to go makes it 2-0. Firouzpour scores four on a feet-to-back takedown followed by two turns and ends the match, 10-0, with 10 seconds remaining in the period. Cardenas wins the silver medal. 

BRONZE MEDAL MATCH (125 kg): Anthony Cassioppi (USA) over Yurii Idzinskyi (UKR), forfeit

First period: Cassioppi wins the bronze medal with a forfeit.
