The South Atlantic Conference announced its Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during the second week of the 2022 season. Carson-Newman outside hitter Julia Wheeler was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Wingate libero Maggie Mullen was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Wheeler, a senior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., picked up her second consecutive player of the week honor after leading the Eagles to a 5-0 record last week. She racked up 86 total kills with six service aces, and five blocks on the week. She registered double-digit kills in every match and had a hitting percentage of .260 for the week, while averaging five points per set.

Mullen, a senior from Harrisburg, N.C., led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record last week, while picking up 43 digs, eight service aces, and 11 assists. In addition to Mullen’s defensive prowess last week, she also added four kills.
