Hilday made the announcement on the #PackMentality Pop-Ins Podcast saying, "I want to give everything to my brother, and the best way that I can do that is to go up to 174 and wrestle. So, next year I will be wrestling for NC State at 174 lbs."
On the podcast, Hidlay goes in-depth about how hard the weight cut down to 157 has been throughout his career, his emotions throughout last weekend's NCAA Championships, and what went into his decision to return and change weight classes. You can listen to full podcast below.
Hidlay has been 2nd, 4th, and 5th at the NCAA Championships down at 157 and put together a 91-8. Fellow Pennsylvania native, Michael Kemerer, made the same move prior to the 2019-2020 season and up at 174 was the #2 at the 2020 NCAA Championships, and made the 2021 NCAA Championships finals.
