#11) 2011 Worlds vs Denis Tsargush

The 2011 World Championships is when Burroughs arrived on the international scene. Almost nobody was giving him a chance against two-time defending world champion Denis Tsargush, especially after he lost the first period. However, Jordan came up with a clutch late takedown to keep it from going to the ball draw, and locked it down in the third to shock the world.

#10) 2015 Worlds vs Aniuar Geduev

Actually the second time JB had ever faced Geduev in his career, but the first time in four years. After getting taken down with one of the slickest misdirection outside steps I have ever seen, Jordan gets the go ahead takedown with 50 seconds to go and then fends off Geduev’s rampage.

#9) 2017 US Open vs Kyle Dake

After failing to medal in Rio, Burroughs was forced to enter the US Open in order to be able to sit in the finals at World Team Trials. Kyle Dake was inches away from scoring the winning point and Jordan somehow held him off just enough.

#8) 2018 Worlds vs Mostafa Hosseinkhani

Similar to 2017 Worlds, Jordan almost didn’t make it out of the very first round. Trailing 3-3 on criteria, Burroughs didn’t get the go ahead step out until there was 17 seconds to go.

#7) 2019 Pan Ams vs Franklin Gomez

While the stakes were not the highest for this match, it might be the most dramatic on this list. It came down to the buzzer and then Burroughs got as emotional as we’ve seen him.

#6) 2013 World Team Trials match #2 against Kyle Dake

Back when the US was still playing with using overtime, Jordan Burroughs and Kyle Dake went into it after a crazy back and forth regulation. After a wild OT scramble, Jordan Burroughs made his third-straight World/Olympic Team.

#5) 2014 Worlds vs Augusto Midana

This one is special because Jordan sprained his MCL early in the match. With less than 30 seconds to go, Burroughs got the go ahead step out. Although he would go on to lose to Denis Tsargush, Jordan Burroughs still won a World bronze medal on a sprained MCL. That’s GOAT stuff.

#4) 2014 US Open vs David Taylor

This is the match where David Taylor cradled Jordan Burroughs twice and had a 6-3 lead with less than a minute to go, but Burroughs somehow still managed to win. This is also the match that retired Burroughs from wrestling at the US Open when there wasn’t a spot to the World Team Trials finals on the line.

#3) 2018 Worlds vs Frank Chamizo

The grudge match between Burroughs and Chamizo. Burroughs won close at Beat the Streets and Chamizo won even closer at the Yasar Dogu. This time, Burroughs won, and on normal mat conditions. Trailing 4-3 with 30 seconds to go, Burroughs got the go ahead point and then held Chamizo off for bronze.

#2) 2019 Final X match #2 vs Isaiah Martinez

Martinez took the lead with 21 seconds to go. Off of the restart, Burroughs went into a full frenzy and got the takedown with five seconds to go. This was huge as IMar would go on to win match two. If Jordan doesn’t get that takedown, he doesn’t represent Team USA at the 2019 World Championships and doesn’t get to sit until the finals of Olympic Team Trials.

#1) 2017 World Team Trials match #2 vs Kyle Dake

After dropping match one and being down three points with 1:15 to go, JB got a shot clock point, takedown, and exposure to take the lead. Then he defended off a furious Kyle Dake for the final 23 seconds, coming inches from giving up exposure. This turned the tide as it was all JB in match three and he would go on to win Worlds.
