What a fun night of wrestling and all for a good cause. Now that the results are in the books, let's see how the fictional FloSports Betting Book did and determine who won a coveted FloWrestling t-shirt after entering our Pick Em Contest.
Emily Shilson vs Charlotte Fowler
Betting Line | What Actually Happened |
Shilson -600 Fowler +850 | Shilson wins |
Shilson -8.5 | 10-0 Shilson |
O/U 14.5 | 10 points |
A dominant performance from Emily Shilson from start to finish. She really is one of the brightest young stars in women's wrestling. Fortunately, the Minnesota native is registered for Senior Nationals. Unfortunately, due to the last-minute departure of Felicity Taylor and replacement by Charlotte Fowler, this match did not have a pick em contest option.
Joe Colon vs Seth Gross
Betting Line | What Actually Happened | % That Got It Right |
Colon -120 Gross +100 | Colon wins | N/A |
Colon -1.5 | 21-15 Colon | 44% |
O/U 14.5 | 36 points | 19% |
Seeing as how the over/under was set at below the total of their two previous matches, I was surprised to see only 19 percent of people bet the under. Apparently a lot of people agreed with me that there was no way these two could put on another shootout like they did in 2017. Boy were we wrong.
Rustam Ampar vs Jack Mueller
Betting Line | What Actually Happened |
Ampar -150 Mueller +110 | Ampar wins |
Ampar -1.5 | 10-6 Ampar |
O/U 8.5 | 16 points |
Rusty's still got some pop to him. After getting out to an 8-0 lead, Ampar's conditioning — or lack thereof — kept Mueller in this match. I admit that I did not expect Ampar to look as good as he did. For that reason, the point total almost doubled the over/under. Similar to Shilson-Fowler, due to Ampar being a late replacement, no pick em contest for this match.
Victoria Francis vs Alexandria Glaude
Betting Line | What Actually Happened | % That Got It Right |
Francis -140 Glaude -115 | Franics wins | N/A |
Francis -0.5 | 11-0 Francis | 73% |
O/U 6.5 | 11 points | 84% |
Betters winning big on this one. It looked like it was going to be a repeat of their previous match and the under was going to hold as it was only 2-0 at the break. Things turned around in the second, however. Francis used a chest wrap to earn four and then two-leg laces to finish off the tech fall.
Gable Steveson vs Trent Hillger
Betting Line | What Actually Happened | % That Got It Right |
Steveson -1,000 | Steveson wins | N/A |
Steveson -7.5 | 11-0 Steveson | 91% |
O/U 13.5 | 11 points | 64% |
Gable Steveson proved why he was the biggest favorite on the card. He made tech falling All-American Trent Hillger look easy. CP rightfully called Steveson -7.5 his lock of the card on FRL. If a line was getting this kind of action, Vegas likely would have moved it quite a bit.
Yianni Diakomihalis vs Vladimer Khinchegashvili
Betting Line | What Actually Happened | % That Got It Right |
Khinchegashvili -125 | Khinchegashvili wins | N/A |
Khinchegashvili -0.5 | 4-4 Khinchegashvili | 82% |
O/U 10.5 | 8 points | 39% |
Not making the line 1 or 1.5 really hurt the house here as I'm sure many people were picking Yianni to win rather than lose on criteria. Once again, Vegas probably would have moved this line with it getting all the action, but I digress.
Pick Em Contest Winner
Of the almost 1,400 entries only 11 people correctly predicted all four spread winners and over/unders. Reminder, due to last-minute replacements there was no pick em contest for Rustam Ampar vs Jack Mueller and Emily Shilson vs Charlotte Fowler. Of the 11 perfect pickers, no one correctly predicted the tiebreaker of 92 total points being scored. The closest guess was 74. Well done to this mystery person! Hopefully you used a working email as that is how we will be contacting you for your prize.
Congrats to the winner and thank you to everyone who played. Let's do it again soon!
