For the first time this season, the Hawkeyes will travel outside the state of Iowa for a dual. The nation's top-ranked team has only wrestled one road dual this season, but it was in Ames where there were plenty of Iowa fans in attendance.

Not only will the Hawkeyes be tested with their first true road test of the year, but if the projected lineups hold, then eight top 25 matchups will go down.

Brock Hudkins has been outstanding this year, but we are unsure if he'll be wrestling after suffering what looked like a nasty injury in the Midlands Championship semifinals against Pat Glory. Hopefully, he is all good and able to test himself against two-time NCAA champion Spencer Lee. 

Michael Kemerer has looked great up at 174 this season with a 100-percent bonus rate, but the sample size has been small as he has only competed in four matches. This weekend he will have his hands full though with two top-25 wrestlers. The first will come Friday night against returning NCAA qualifier Jacob Covaciu. The Hoosier junior has been solid this season picking up wins over Rocky Jordan and Ben Harvey. 

While Max Murin is unbeaten on the year and coming off a Midlands Championships, he did lose by fall inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena last season to Kyle Luigs.

When the Hawkeyes roll into West Lafayette Sunday afternoon, one of the hottest teams in the country will be waiting for them. Purdue started the year ranked outside of our top 25 rankings and now is the sixth-ranked team in the United States of America. This is due in large part to the fact that Devin Schroder, Kendall Coleman, Dylan Lydy, and Christian Brunner all began the season ranked outside the top 10 and have all now worked their way into the top seven or higher.

Devin Schroder has been fantastic this season making the CKLV finals and pushing returning NCAA finalist Jack Mueller. The returning NCAA qualifier has yet to wrestle Spencer Lee in his career, though. The two-time defending NCAA champion is a perfect 6-0 on the season and all six wins have been by bonus points. 

Kendall Coleman started the year unranked but shot up the rankings after opening weekend after beating Eric Barone, Zac Carson, Anthony Artalona, and Will Lewan earning himself the nickname KC Stampede. Coleman's lone four losses of the year came to four of the nation's top five ranked wrestlers. One of those was to Kaleb Young in the Midlands semifinals, but it came down to a mindblowing scramble in sudden victory. Fingers crossed Sunday's match is just as good.

You could make an argument that Dylan Lydy has been the hottest wrestler in the country this season. Coming off a bloodround finish at last year's NCAA Championships, Lydy has won all 20 of his matches this season and has picked up CKLV and Midlands titles along the way. Lydy began the year ranked #12 and has since beat Anthony Valencia, Kimball Bastian, Ben Harvey, Mikey Labriola, and Bryce Steiert twice. Can Lydy add to his hit list? On the flip side, this will be Kemerer's biggest test up at 174 and would be his biggest win since the 2018 NCAA Championships after missing last season due to injury. 

Christian Brunner entered the season as the highest-ranked Purdue wrestler at #10, but has jumped into the upper echelon after beating #3 Pat Brucki and winning Midlands. The former #2-ranked wrestler in America, Jacob Warner, will be looking to earn his ranking back Sunday afternoon. The Illinois natives are 1-1 against each other over the past two seasons with Warner winning at last seasons Big Ten Championships and Brunner winning at Midlands during Warner's redshirt year. Who will take the rubber match Sunday afternoon?
