Alyvia Fiske defeated her future Final X opponent Victoria Francis in the U.S. Open finals 5-4 to win a spot in Final X: Rutgers.
Victoria Francis earned a shot at revenge on Fiske when she beat Iman Kazem in two straight matches at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament, first by 14-3, then via pinfall. You can watch the second match below.
57 Kilograms
Becka Leathers won a hard-fought battle with Jenna Burkert, 7-5 at the Open, to punch her ticket to Piscataway.
Jenna Burkert bounced back to thrash Arian Caprio at the Challenge Tourney finals, 11-2 and 10-0, get earn a shot at revenge against Leathers.
65 Kilograms
Forrest Molinari came up just short of a medal at the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, so needed to beat Maya Nelson at the U.S. Open to make it back to Final X for the second consecutive year.
2017 junior world medalist Maya Nelson was able to shake off her Open loss to Molinari and beat 2018 junior silver medalist Macey Kilty two matches to none at the Challenge Tourney, 5-0 and 11-3. The second match is below.
68 Kilograms
Tamyra Mensah-Stock secured her bye to Final X by defeating Canada's Olivia Di Bacco 7-4 in the bronze medal match in Budapest.
Alexandria Glaude took out 2018 Final X competitor Randi Beltz at the challenge tournament, though she needed three matches. Glaude was pinned in the first match but then won the next two, 6-2 and 6-1, to earn a series with Mensah-Stock at Rutgers.
50 Kilograms
Whitney Conder earned a chance to make her fifth world team when she defeated Erin Golston 7-0 in the finals of the 2019 U.S. Open.
Golston came up short of her quest for a Final X birth when two-time world teamer Victoria Anthony defeated her two matches to none in Raleigh, 8-2 and 5-1. The second match is below.
