The NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament's East Region features the third-ranked team nationally and other dark horse teams that could shift some brackets.

Bentley Women's basketball is the region's No. 1 seed after going 30-1 and winning the Northeast 10 Conference Championship by defeating Southern New Hampshire, Southern Connecticut State and Assumption.

For Bentley, the program is seeking to win its second national championship since 2014.

No. 8 New Haven will be the first game for the tournament for Falcons on March 14 at 5 p.m. ET; this will be one of the four first-round games from the East Region of the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament in which the entire region will be streamed on FloCollege and the FloSports app.

Here is what to know about the East Region.

What Teams Are In The East Region?

The eight teams of the East region consist of Bentley, New Haven, St. Anselm, Southern Conn. St., Daemen, Jefferson, Holy Family and Assumption.

The seeds are:

  • No. 1 Bentley (30-1)
  • No. 2 Daemen (21-7)
  • No. 3 Holy Family (24-6)
  • No. 4 St. Anselm (17-9)
  • No. 5 Southern Conn. St. (19-10)
  • No. 6 Assumption (19-13)
  • No. 7 Jefferson (24-7)
  • No. 8 New Haven (17-10)

The winner of the East Region will face the winner of the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship in the Elite Eight in Pittsburgh at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament East Region Schedule

East Region semifinal match ups take place on March 15th at 5:00 p.m. ET and 7:30 p.m. ET at the Dana Center in Waltham, Mass.

The East Region Championship Game is March 17 at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Dana Center.

NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament East Region Outlook

It's no surprise that the No. 1 seed is the favorite to advance to the Elite Eight, and Bentley has deserved that right, especially considering the Falcons defeated the fifth and sixth seeds in the region (Southern Conn. St. and Assumption) for the conference title.

However, as we have seen multiple times in March, everything done before the NCAA tournament no longer matters when you are in a win-or-go-home scenario.

Daemen is a team that few people talk about, but they are the second seed for a reason, even though they were not ranked nationally.

They could be the team to take down Bentley and represent the East Region in the tournament.
