In the first semifinal game of the CAA men’s basketball tournament, Delaware men’s basketball continued its remarkable run, gaining another upset, this time against Towson.

The Blue Hens were able to do so in large part because they stayed hot offensively, shooting over 50 percent again from the field against the Tigers and over 40 from the three-point line.

Six different players scored in double figures, and the team collectively held Towson to 72 points, which is also why Delaware basketball is moving on to the championship game: They have not allowed their opponents to even reach 80 points.

It will be the first time that a double-digit seed makes the CAA conference championship game.

UNC Wilmington basketball squeezed out a last-minute victory over Charleston to prevent a three-peat of the CAA. On Tuesday, UNC Wilmington will play against Delaware in the conference championship.

It was a great competitive game from the beginning, as both teams seemed in sync, hitting shots simultaneously and going on stretches of missing shots.

Donovan Newby, UNCW guard, came up big for the Seahawks with a game-high 24-point performance, including a big three to give them a two-point lead with 1:10 left.

With the nail-biting win, it sets up for what should be a good game between the underdog, No. 12 Delaware, looking to return to the NCAA tournament, and UNC Wilmington, which is looking to win its seventh CAA title.

Final: UNCW 68, Charleston 67

After a costly turnover by Ford, a pair of free throws from Montgomery put the game away and advanced the Seahawks to the CAA championship game, where they will face Delaware.

A missed free throw from Bo Montgomery brings it to the final possession as Charleston looks to force OT or win the game.

Newby knocks down another three to put the Seahawks up by two with almost under a minute left to go.
