Teams that embarked on the 2025 season with lofty expectations lived up to the hype during three weeks of action at the College Baseball Series. Dark-horse contenders also used the high-profile stage at Globe Life Field, facing premier competition, to assert themselves as potential Omaha-bound squads this year.

So which teams do we think made the best impression as College World Series hopefuls? Here are six college baseball teams that started their season at Globe Life and have the best shot to end their seasons in Omaha.
The Frontrunners
1. LSU Baseball
After appearing in midweek College Baseball Series action against fellow Omaha hopeful Dallas Baptist, LSU jumped to No. 2 in the March 3 BaseballAmerica Top 25 and No. 1 in the D1Baseball poll.
Deeming the Tigers a frontrunner to reach the College World Series out of the many excellent teams to play at the College Baseball Series is hardly a stretch, then. LSU's lineup features holdovers from the 2023 national championship-winning roster, including D1Baseball.com's top-ranked first baseman and a Freshman All-American during the Tigers' title season, Jared Jones.
Jones went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI against Dallas Baptist. He helped fuel an offense that's had a considerable boost from newcomer Daniel Dickinson. The Utah Valley transfer has homered four times through LSU's first three weeks of competition, including once at Globe Life Field.

2. Arkansas Baseball
Perennial College World Series contender Arkansas is another easy choice among this year's loaded College Baseball Series class to tab for a run to Omaha. And while the Razorbacks dropped one of their three games at Globe Life Field, they showed what might set them apart from the rest of the country even in defeat.
The Arkansas pitching staff showed a ton of promise through the Series' second weekend, most notably the outstanding performance of Zach Root against TCU. Root's 10-strikeout outing over five innings powered the Razorbacks to a 2-1 win, sealed when Landon Beidelschies and Christian Foutch delivered four scoreless innings.
At the plate, Kuhio Aloy made a splash in his opportunities at the College Baseball Series. He went 2-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBI in at-bats against K-State and TCU. With two Aloys at the dish, Arkansas presents opposing pitching staffs double-trouble that could be tough to beat all season long.

3. Oregon State Baseball
The Beavers dropped a tough decision to Auburn in the third weekend of College Baseball Series, but even in the loss, showed plenty to be bullish on another Oregon State run to Omaha.
Getting home runs over the course of the three days from both Gavin Turley and Jacob Kreig; Kreig homered twice on the weekend, pushing his total to five four-baggers in the early going. The duo gives Oregon State a formidable combo and addresses some of the offensive needs left with No. 1 pick Travis Bazzana's departure for MLB.
Likewise, a four-hit finale from Washington transfer Aiva Arquette and five-RBI day for Turley sent Oregon State out of Arlington on a high note. Few teams in college baseball have as much potential offensive firepower, which could carry the Beavers a long way in their unprecedented independent season.

The Dark Horses
1. Auburn Baseball
One of the biggest winners of the three weeks at the College Baseball Series was an Auburn team that garnered some preseason Top 25 buzz, but was still relegated to the bottom-half of the preseason SEC poll. Well, if the Tigers' showing in Arlington is any indication, they can bring it to any team in any conference.
The highlight of Auburn's weekend at Globe Life Field came in an 8-7 thriller against Oregon State, showcasing the Tigers' ability to go toe-to-toe with the best in the country. Chris Rembert's 2-for-4, four-RBI performance stood out, Ike Irish had his best game at the plate in 2025, and Cade Belyeu's remarkable start to the season added another breathtaking moment with his steal of home. Belyeu also homered against Baylor.
This is a team that should have your attention in the stacked SEC.

2. Ole Miss Baseball
Another indication the SEC race will be a dog fight is the play of Ole Miss. Like Auburn, the Rebels were picked in a tier below the conference's preseason favorites like LSU, Arkansas and Texas A&M. However, Ole Miss opened the season with an impressive pair of wins at the first weekend's Shriners Children's College Baseball Showdown.
Ole Miss beat a pair of preseason Omaha favorites in Arizona and Clemson. The Rebels pitching staff shut down Wildcats bats in the Feb. 14 opener, including starter Hunter Elliott giving up only two hits over five innings. Will McCausland shined in nearly four innings out of the bullpen against Clemson, holding the Tigers to three hits and one run while striking out eight.
His commanding effort in relief complemented an offensive deluge, which included three-hit outings for Luke Hill and Hayden Federico.
Defeating Clemson ignited a nine-game winning streak and counting, which Ole Miss takes — along with its newly minted Top 20 ranking — into the final week of tune-up before starting SEC play on March 14 vs. Arkansas.

3. Kansas State Baseball
Before arriving in Texas, K-State had taken some lumps against Coastal Carolina and North Carolina; both currently ranked in the Top 25 as of March 5, with the Tar Heels in the top four. The Wildcats' early record as a result belied the team's potential, however, which showed through in a perfect second weekend at the College Baseball Series.
Pitching translates anywhere, and K-State's pitching was phenomenal in winning over Arkansas, TCU, and Michigan. The Wildcats allowed just five runs for the weekend, a feat that if they can replicate regularly in Big 12 Conference play, will make them dangerous come NCAA Tournament time.
Jacob Frost and Dean Blake combining to hold Arkansas to two runs on seven hits was the highlight of K-State's weekend, but the team also got four hitless innings with three strikeouts from reliever Donte Lewis; and Lincoln Sheffield's electric seven innings against TCU with eight strikeouts and one run on five hits.
What did the Wildcats do during the 5th inning? COOK. 😎 5-0 @KStateBSB
