Josh Hoey Sets American 800m Record, Wins Indoor National Title
Josh Hoey continues to dominate on the indoor oval, winning his first indoor national title and resetting the American Record.

The year of Josh Hoey continues.
Josh Hoey wins are becoming more and more common, and Sunday's USATF Indoor Championship 800m final proved to be no different. Hoey ran away from the field and improved on his own 800m National Record by running a 1:43.24.

The win is Josh Hoey's first national title, and suddenly he is the favorite to the win the World Indoor Title in Nanjing, China.
Hoey's 1:43.24 currently leads the world. He split 50.36 over the opening 400m before returning in a 52.89. Brandon Miller followed Hoey through early, but could never find a way around his compatriot. In the end, Hoey was able to gap Miller in the closing 100m of the race.
Miller held on for second, and posted a personal best 1:44.26. Then Wes Ferguson crossed the line in third with a 1:44.92.
Earlier in the year, Josh Hoey won the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix 1,500m over Grant Fisher in second. He carried that momentum into the 2025 Millrose Games, where he defeated Olympian Bryce Hoppel to set the American Record of 1:43.90.
