Nebraska Softball had already been a successful program under command of head coach Rhonda Revelle, but the addition of star pitcher Jordyn Bahl to the Cornhuskers roster in 2024 set up a powerhouse of a team.

Bahl started in one game last season before suffering a season-ending ACL injury.

Now back in action, the Cornhuskers have recorded an 8-2 record ahead of the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, looking to give Bahl a chance to shine this season.

San Jose State on the other hand, enters the classic with a 5-5 record.

The Spartans have a chance to gain some key wins in the series, with matches against Howard, CSUN, Loyola Marymount and UC Santa Barbara, and will look to establish consistency.

But the Spartans must face Nebraska in the midst of their series at the 2025 Mary Nutter Classic, with the teams set to face off on 8:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 22.

Who Was Mary Nutter?

Mary Nutter was an All-American softball player and a pioneer in the sport. 

She was a coach at Pittsburgh State and was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1988 and the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1997.

Nutter died in 2012.
