Tennessee Softball Shines In Dominant 10-1 Win Over Rutgers At Mary Nutter
Tennessee and Rutgers faced off on Day 2 of the 2025 Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, California, on Wrigley Field. Check out the full recap.

Tennessee Softball entered the match against Rutgers in the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with one win and one loss in the series.
Rutgers Softball on the other hand, had lost both of its first two games at the Mary Nutter.
Both teams came into the match looking to prove themselves for different reasons, but the game would prove to be lopsided in the end.

Despite an early run by Rutgers, the game was dominated by the Lady Vols, who put up 10 runs in five innings.
Two home runs from Pannell and Clarke highlighted the game, with Morgan scoring three runs, and Fiedler and Taylor scoring two each.
Rutgers Softball's single score came in the first inning, where a sacrifice lead to Briggs crossing home.
In the end, Rutgers couldn't find any more rhythm during the game, losing to Tennessee 10-1.

Emma Clarke Homers For Two To End It - End Game
Tennessee 10, Rutgers 1
Clarke smacks a ball straight up the center for a homer and RBI for Taylor to score, hitting enough for a run-rule win.
Despite the early run, Rutgers could not make magic happen.

Mardjetko challenged three batters in the fifth, sending them all out with two ground outs and one strike out. To the bottom.

The Lady Vols will cap off a four-run inning with a Laura Mealer triple to allow Fiedler her second run of the day.
That's two at bats with two runs and two RBI for Fiedler on the day.

Morgan is on fire today, scoring another run on a Pannell RBI. Morgan has been at bat three times, notching three runs and an RBI.

Tennessee's Morgan continues to help the Lady Vols score by doubling to left field, leading to an Ahlin score.

Taylor Pannell Smashes It Out For Two-Run Homer - End 3rd

Pannell lined up a hit to left center and sent it past the fence, sending herself and Fiedler to home.
The Lady Vols were sent out of the inning with two more outs, but the third was all Tennessee all day.
Morgan Sneaks It In For A Lady Vols Run - Bottom 3rd

A single from Fiedler bounced out of the glove of Rutgers pitcher Kelsey Hoekstra, allowing Morgan to run home as the Scarlet Knights searched for the ball.
Two Strikes And An Out For Tennessee Once Again - Top 3rd

Four batters faced Mardjetko in the third inning. One batter, Jillian Anderson, was able to single to center field.
But all three other batters were unable to do much, with two being struck out and one being grounded out.

Similar to Tennessee, one batter was allowed on base from a walk. But three quick outs will end this inning, keeping it a tied contest.

Rutgers had one runner make it to second base on a walk and a passed ball, but Mardjetko made quick work of the following three hitters, ending the Scarlet Knights inning at bat.

About Big League Dreams Cathedral City
The Big League Dreams Sports Parks are scattered throughout the United States and provide recreational and tournament players of all ages the chance to compete on world-class fields, often built as replicas of famous stadiums from the storied history of Major League Baseball.
Along with the nostalgic fields, the Big League Dreams venues include a restaurant and bar, batting cages, play area for children, stadium seating and space for other sports (hockey, soccer, sand volleyball), events and competitions.
Big League Dreams Cathedral City was the first of the eight BLD properties to open, doing so in 1998. The park includes five fields. Among them, Boston’s Fenway Park, Chicago’s Wrigley Field and New York’s Yankee Stadium.

Who Was Mary Nutter?
Mary Nutter was an All-American softball player and a pioneer in the sport.
She was a coach at Pittsburgh State and was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1988 and the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1997.
Nutter died in 2012.
