Tennessee Softball entered the match against Rutgers in the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with one win and one loss in the series.

Rutgers Softball on the other hand, had lost both of its first two games at the Mary Nutter.

Both teams came into the match looking to prove themselves for different reasons, but the game would prove to be lopsided in the end.

Despite an early run by Rutgers, the game was dominated by the Lady Vols, who put up 10 runs in five innings.

Two home runs from Pannell and Clarke highlighted the game, with Morgan scoring three runs, and Fiedler and Taylor scoring two each.

Rutgers Softball's single score came in the first inning, where a sacrifice lead to Briggs crossing home.

In the end, Rutgers couldn't find any more rhythm during the game, losing to Tennessee 10-1.
