Sha'Carri Richardson To Headline 100m At 2025 Prefontaine Classic
Sha'Carri Richardson To Headline 100m At 2025 Prefontaine Classic
2023 100m world champion Sha'Carri Richardson will return to Eugene for the 2025 Prefontaine Classic, part of the Diamond League circuit.

America's top 100m racer will return to Eugene in 2025.
Sha'Carri Richardson, the Paris Olympics 100m silver medalist and 4x100m gold medalist, will headline the women's 100m at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic set for July 5, announced by meet organizers on Thursday.
Richardson will look to defend her Pre Classic title from last year, which she won commandingly in 10.83.
This makes Richardson the first athlete announced to compete at the U.S.'s lone Diamond League meeting this summer.

In her career, Richardson has competed at the Prefontaine Classic four times, winning the 100m in 2024 and taking second in 2022. The 2019 event held in Palo Alto marked her first post-collegiate competition.
Richardson certainly has had her fair share of fast moments at Hayward Field throughout her career. Half of her top 10 best 100m and 200m marks have come on the track in Eugene, from competing at the Pre Classic to the U.S. Championships and Olympic Trials.
Fans have yet to see Richardson take the track to kick off her 2025 campaign. She has not raced since finishing eighth in the Diamond League final in Brussels last September, which capped off a marquee season where she earned the silver medal in the 100m and anchored Team USA to gold in the 4x100m at the Paris Olympics.
This outdoor season will be big for Richardson, who could potentially win back-to-back world titles. A win in the 100m at the World Outdoor Championships in Tokyo would successfully defend her title from the 2023 championships in Budapest and make her just the third woman to win two-straight 100m world championship golds.
The Diamond League season, which includes the Prefontaine Classic, kicks off in April in China. This year marks the 50th year of the Pre Classic and it's 15th year on the Diamond League circuit.
