Nebraska, Jordy Bahl Down Baylor 4-1 At 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic
Nebraska ace Jordy Bahl shut down Baylor on the first day of the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California. Nebraska won 4-1.

A second-inning home run by junior Bella Bacon nearly was enough to secure a victory for the No. 15 Nebraska softball team against Baylor at the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California.
The Cornhuskers added a run in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth, however, and the insurance turned out to be important, as the Bears were able to sneak a run onto the scoreboard in their final opportunity.
Nebraska ended up cruising to a 4-1 victory behind the arm of All-American Jordy Bahl, who shut down the Bears’ offense to earn her fourth win of the year.
Baylor (7-5) entered the contest coming off a win earlier in the day against Nevada, while Nebraska (9-2) will look to use the momentum for its Thursday nightcap against No. 4 UCLA.

Bahl pitched the entire game Thursday against the Bears, giving up one run on two hits, while striking out nine and walking two. The final-inning run was the result of a throwing error and two wild pitches.
The junior right-hander now is 4-1 on the year, including a season-opening win over No. 5 Tennessee and a no-hitter last week against Northern Colorado.
After transferring from Oklahoma to Nebraska for the 2024 campaign, Bahl made her Huskers debut at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic but suffered a season-ending ACL injury in her first game with the Huskers.
Offensively, along with Bacon’s home run, junior Olivia DiNardo contributed a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles. She and fellow junior Hannah Camenzind had multiple hits for Nebraska. Camenzind was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Baylor’s starting pitcher, senior left-hander Lillie Walker, who helped Duke to the NCAA Women's College World Series last year, also had a solid outing Thursday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough against the recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Player of the Week.
Walker (1-2) went 5 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits, while striking out one, walking one and hitting one batter.
Baylor’s biggest opportunity came in the fifth inning, when a fielding error, a walk and an infield single helped the Bears load the bases with no outs. Bahl came through for Nebraska, however, striking out three consecutive Baylor batters to end the threat.
The Bears now have the rest of the day off and will be back in action against Missouri on Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern.
Nebraska will meet UCLA on Thursday night at 10:30 p.m. EST.
The 2025 edition of the Mary Nutter is taking place at the Big League Dreams Complex from Feb. 20-23.
The park includes five fields modeled after some of the most historic venues in Major League Baseball. Among them, Boston’s Fenway Park, Chicago’s Wrigley Field and New York’s Yankee Stadium.
The 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic includes 31 teams, headlined by Tennessee, Nebraska and Utah.
