As the season continues its trek towards the all-important Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic later this week, the undefeated Texas Longhorns softball team continued to reign supreme in the top spot. 

Sophomore right-hander Teagan Kavan was named Pitcher of the Week by the SEC and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) after her performances against Texas Tech.

As the 2025 softball season reached its third week and most teams have played their first 10 games, it seemed like the polls were largely in agreement around who the top eight D1 college softball teams in the country were: Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, UCLA, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Florida State.

Further down the list, San Diego State and South Carolina caught pollsters' attention during their first ten games. 

SDSU may have earned two losses, but one came from No. 2 Oklahoma during extra innings on Feb. 6 off of a grand slam by North Carolina transfer Isabela Emerling.

South Carolina softball has been unbeatable in 2025 so far, putting up an impressive 81 runs. Their opponents have only earned 13 runs over the 61 innings that the Gamecocks have played.
