NCAA Division I Women's College Basketball Rankings: Big Loss For Big Teams
The shocking results and amazing performances from players and teams cause the biggest changes.

After this past week, every women's college basketball fan can admit it was the most exciting week of the season. It featured the best teams competing against each other and multiple top-ten matchups.
Starting on Thursday, USC sophomore guard JuJu Watkins had one of the best, if not the best, performances in college basketball, scoring 38 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and swatting a career-high eight blocks against rival and No. 1 UCLA to give the Bruins its first loss of the season.
This game and other Marquette matchups will play a huge factor in how these teams are ranked now, as conference championships are right around the corner.
UConn Stuns South Carolina With Blowout Win
- UConn women's basketball shocked the world Sunday by blowing out the defending champions, South Carolina WBB, on their home floor.
- The Huskies won 87-58 and scored over 20 points in every quarter, holding South Carolina to nine points in the second.
- Azzi Fudd led the charge with 28 points, shooting 6-10 from three, including an 18-point third quarter and 23 points overall in the second half.
AND THE NEW!!!
- With the loss from UCLA women's basketball to USC WBB, thanks in large part to the performance of JuJu Watkins, Notre Dame women's basketball is now the new No. 1 team in this week's rankings.
- The Fighting Irish have not skipped a beat after losing to TCU and Utah earlier in the season; last week, they blew out ACC opponents California and Pittsburgh by 30-plus points.
- Notre Dame has five games left, two of them against ranked teams, Duke on Monday and NC State on Feb. 23.
Texas Moves Into The No. 2 Spot
- Texas women's basketball may be the hottest team in sports in terms of getting wins over some of the best teams in the country.
- On Feb. 9, the Longhorns snapped the Gamecocks 57-game SEC winning streak in a nail-biting game.
- Last week, they blew out No. 8 Kentucky women's basketball nearly by 20 points on Feb. 13, and then Sunday, completed a comeback, defeating LSU WBB 65-58, after facing a 12-point deficit late in the third quarter.
