No. 8 Georgia Baseball couldn't find its footing in Sunday afternoon's match against UNC Wilmington, allowing all six of UNCW's runs in the first inning alone.

The Bulldog's starting pitcher, Zach Brown, had a rough first inning. He faced eight different batters, resulting in five runs with a single out before being replaced by Eric Hammond. The Seahawks would cash in one more run in the first inning, quickly taking a 6-0 lead.

Despite UNCW not scoring the rest of the game, Georgia could only scrape together two runs in the eighth inning, resulting in an early-season loss, 6-2.

The Bulldogs come off a 43-17 overall season in 2024, where they made their way to the NCAA Super Regional round, before ultimately ending their season with a loss to NC State University.

UNCW comes off a successful season of its own in 2024, going 40-21 overall. The Seahawks were able to advance to the NCAA Regional round, where their postseason was cut short in a loss to Georgia Tech.
