SEC Baseball coaches didn't give much of a chance to 2022 NCAA National Champion Ole Miss in 2025, picking them to finish 15th in college athletic's most loaded conference.

Shows how much they know.

Ole Miss Baseball picked up one of the first upsets victories over a top-25 team after Issac Humphrey hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Hunter Elliott picked up the win in his first start since April 22, 2023. Elliott went 5 innings of scoreless baseball and struckout three in a 2-1 win over No. 21 Arizona in the middle game of the Shriners Children's Baseball Showdown in Arlington on Feb. 14.

But it wasn't easy for Ole Miss. The Rebels saw their lead cut in half when No. 54-ranked MLB Draft prospect Mason White hit his first home run of the season in the eighth inning and the Wildcats loaded the bases with one out in the top of the ninth inning.

But Connor Spencer ended the game with a strike out and a pop-fly to pick up his first save of 2025 in the season opener.

Ole Miss will face another ranked team in fellow SEC team Texas in a rare non-conference, conference game at 8 p.m. ET Saturday on Feb. 15

Meanwhile, Arizona's weekend only gets more difficult with a showdown at noon ET on Saturday against Clemson, who beat Big 12 favorite Oklahoma State 6-5 in the opener on Feb. 14.

Connor Spencer loaded the bases but got the final out as the Rebels picked up the top-25 upset in the middle game of the Shriners Children's Baseball Showdown.

Connor Spencer Walks First 2 Batters; No. 21 Arizona 1, Ole Miss 2, T9th

Ole Miss closer Connor Spencer has walked the first two batters in a 1-run game. T.J. Adams is pinch hitting for Arizona.

Adams bunts the runners over. There is one out with the tying run at third. Spencer struck out Richie Morales and Ole Miss intentionally walked Brendan Summerhill. There are two outs and the bases loaded.

Garen Caulfield popped out to end the game.

Casey Hintz Escapes 1-Out, Bases Loaded Jam; No. 21 Arizona 1, Ole Miss 2, B8th

Casey Hintz had retired seven batters in a row before Issac Humphrey hit a leadoff single and two batters later Judd Utermark hit another single before Will Furniss worked a full count and walked.

With the bases loaded and one out, Arizona kept Hintz in the game after 42 pitches looking for the double-play.

Instead he fell behind Ryan Moerman 3-1 but battled back to get the strike out for the second out. Facing Owen Paino, Hintz paid off coach Chip Hale's faith with a massive punch-out with the bases loaded.

Ole Miss looks to close out the game in the Top of the 9th.

HIGHLIGHT: MLB Prospect Mason White Has Liftoff At Shriners Children's Baseball Showdown

Mason White Hammers Home Run; No. 21 Arizona 1, Ole Miss 2, T8th

Top 100 prospect Mason White hit his first home run of the season as Arizona cut the Ole Miss lead in half. White, the No. 3-hitter and No. 54-ranked prospect on the FloBaseball Composite MLB Draft rankings, snapped a solid day by Ole Miss reliever Mason Morris, who quickly retired the first two batters of the innings.

Aaron Walton followed the home run with a walk which knocked Morris out of the game.

However, Ole Miss will enter the ninth looking to close things out after Connor Spencer forced a infield flyout on his second pitch.

The team picked 15th in the SEC closed out the top of the eighth quickly and will enter the ninth inning with at least a 1-run lead on the No. 21-ranked team in the country according to D1 Baseball.

Casey Hintz Settling As RP Has Retired 7 In A Row; No. 21 Arizona 0, Ole Miss 2, B7th

Ole Miss and Arizona are combined 0-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

Casey Hintz Bounces Back, Has Quick Inning; No. 21 Arizona 0, Ole Miss 2, B6th

Arizona reliever Casey Hintz allowed two runs in the fifth, but he cruised through the sixth with a 1-2-3 inning to end the inning. He struck out two in the inning.

Giant 6-4-3 Double-Play Ends Wildcats Threat; No. 21 Arizona 0, Ole Miss 2, T6th

Hunter Elliott gave away to reliever Mason Morris and Arizona went after him. The Wildcats put two runners on Morris, but then he was able to induce a ground ball to escape the inning.

It's the first double play of the season for Ole Miss.

Luke Hill singled with one out and Issac Humphrey walked against Arizona starter Collin McKinney who first some first inning adversary against the SEC lineup. But McKinney was able strikeout Mitchell Sanford and battled back from an 2-0 hole against Judd Utermark to end the inning with a strikeout on a full count.

Brendan Summerhill Singles, Steals Base Before Getting Thrown Out; No. 21 Arizona 0, Ole Miss 0, T1st

Preseason All-Big 12 player Brendan Summerhill had a lead-off single that ricocheted off the second baseman (it was ruled a hit by the scorekeepers at Globe Life Field)  as Ole Miss pitcher Hunter Elliott made his first start in nearly two years for the Rebels.

Summerhill picked up his first steal of the season just before Elliott registered his first strikeout of the season. But Summerhill got greedy after and was thrown out trying to steal third.

Mason White was hit by a pitch and took first, but Aaron Walton flied out to end the inning.

Hunter Elliott Returns To The Mound For Ole Miss Baseball
