The Cardinals escape a major upset from the worst team in the NESCAC in Bates after getting a six-point win in overtime on the road.

Former No. 2 Trine had another mediocre week, splitting its game again, losing by eight points to Hope and winning against Alma by 14 points.

There Is A New No. 2 Team

• Last week's No. 2 Illinois Wesleyan was on a roll, coming into the week on an eight-game winning streak.
• However, two back-to-back conference losses on the road to North Central and Carthage have caused a huge shift in the division rankings. The Titans are now at the No. 13 spot, dropping down 11 spots.
• NYU men's basketball is now the new No. 2 team in Division III, moving from the third spot with a tight two-point victory over Chicago and a 19-point win over Washington U. 
• The newest team in the top five is Emory, which has taken over the No. 5 spot. This sets up a matchup between the best teams, with Emory welcoming in the New No. 2 NYU team on Feb. 14.
