All six of the top teams in the NCAA Division II women's basketball rankings escaped the games with statement wins, whether it be due to a slightly close game or dominating their opponent by a large margin.

In its first game against a ranked team in Cal Poly-Pomona, the Cal State-Dominguez Hills women's basketball team remained the only undefeated team, beating the Broncos by ten points.

Texas Woman's and Bentley also secured wins to 22-1 and 23-1 records to stay at No. 2 and No. 4.

When Will GVSU Have A Close Game?

  • The Lakers won another two home games in the GLIAC with blowout wins over Lake Superior State and Ferris State by 38 and 19 points.
  • Uneven wins have been the trend for Grand Valley State women's basketball, as the lowest margin over victory on the season was ten over Northern Michigan, and the highest had been 56 points earlier in the year on the road over Lake Superior State.
  • GVSU has six games remaining before the conference tournament. Will any of those games put up a good fight against the Lakers?

Four Teams Out And Four More In

  • Gannon, Azusa Pacific, Malone and Fairmont State have fallen from the top 25 with huge losses against conference foes, which could significantly affect their postseason chances.
  • One big thing to note among those four teams is Gannon dropped 18 spots, as they were in the top ten for the majority of the season. The two losses were by 13 points to then-unranked Edinboro and unranked Indiana.
  • It shows how much two conference losses in one week can impact your position as the best team, significantly dropping from the rankings from No. 7.
  • Now, with these teams falling out of the rankings, that means four new teams are now ranked: Lewis, Edinboro, Colorado Mesa and Montana State Billings.
