How To Watch Rutgers Vs. Tennessee At 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic

The Rutgers and Tennessee softball teams are off to much different starts to the 2025 season, and they’ll both be facing a talented field of teams at the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, where they’ll be looking to make sure the young campaign is headed in the right direction.

The two teams will see their paths officially cross at the Mary Nutter for a meeting on Feb. 21 at 1:30 p.m. Eastern.

The 2025 edition of the Mary Nutter is taking place at the Big League Dreams Complex in Cathedral City, California, from Feb. 20-23.

Rutgers started the 2025 season at The Spring Games in Leesburg, Florida, and the team’s opener went well. It was a 6-2 victory against Cleveland State. But that’s where the momentum ended.

The Scarlet Knights ended up leaving the event at 1-4, though, following losses to Middle Tennessee, Louisville and Liberty (twice).

Rutgers, which plays in the Big Ten, is coming off a strong 33-22 season, so maybe the team is just slow out of the gate this time around.

The Scarlet Knights last participated in the Mary Nutter in 2024, turning in a 4-2 record.

Tennessee came into the 2025 season ranked fifth on the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. The Vols are one of 11 Southeastern Conference teams on the list.

UT kicked off the year at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida, where a season-opening loss to No. 16 Nebraska was followed by consecutive wins over Bethune-Cookman, Iowa, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Pittsburgh.

In the wins, the Vols outscored their opponents 50-7.

Tennessee is coming off a 44-12 season in 2024 that ended against Alabama in the final of the Knoxville Super Regional (2-1), with a trip to the WCWS on the line.

The Vols last participated in the Mary Nutter in 2024, going 4-2.

The 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic will feature 31 teams, headlined by Tennessee, Nebraska and Utah.

About Big League Dreams Cathedral City

The Big League Dreams Sports Parks are scattered throughout the United States and provide recreational and tournament players of all ages the chance to compete on world-class fields, often built as replicas of famous stadiums from the storied history of Major League Baseball.

Along with the nostalgic fields, the Big League Dreams venues include a restaurant and bar, batting cages, play area for children, stadium seating and space for other sports (hockey, soccer, sand volleyball), events and competitions.

Big League Dreams Cathedral City was the first of the eight BLD properties to open, doing so in 1998. The park includes five fields. Among them, Boston’s Fenway Park, Chicago’s Wrigley Field and New York’s Yankee Stadium.
