Florida State softball beats Louisiana Tech 9-1 in a run-rule win at the PVCC Challenge. Key performances from Wacaser, Dack, and strong pitching by Reid.

Florida State dominated Louisiana Tech in a 9-1 run-rule victory at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge

Key performances included Hallie Wacaser, who hit a home run, recording 2 RBIs, and Katie Dack, who added a homer and an RBI. 

Kennedy Harp and Krystina Hartley also contributed with critical hits and RBIs. 

LA Tech’s sole run came from Claire Raley’s trip to home plate. 

Makenna Reid and Ashtyn Danley combined for a solid pitching effort, allowing only one run in five innings. 

FSU now looks ahead to their next matchup with Oklahoma State to close out PVCC.

When Is The NCAA Softball Run Rule Used?

The run-ahead rule, often referred to as a "mercy rule" or "run rule" states that if one team is up by eight or more runs after five or more equal innings, the home plate umpire can declare a run-ahead rule and end the game.
