Barr's Late Reversal Sparks Penn State Wrestling Shutout Against Michigan
Penn State scored its first shutout victory in series history against Michigan on Friday, thanks to a late reversal by 197-pounder Josh Barr.

Penn State made more program history Friday night.
The top-ranked Nittany Lions swept all 10 matches in a 39-0 victory against Michigan, registering their first shutout win against the Wolverines in the history of a series that began in 1933.
Michigan native Josh Barr, a fourth-ranked freshman, scored a reversal with four seconds left in a tiebreaker to knock off second-ranked and previously unbeaten Jacob Cardenas 3-2 at 197. Cardenas escaped in eight seconds in the first 30-second tiebreak session and appeared to be positioned for a victory until he tried pulling Barr back into his lap with less than 15 seconds remaining. Barr snagged Cardenas’ right leg, spun around him and came up on top for the winning reversal.

Penn State also picked up pins from Luke Lilledahl (125) and Levi Haines (174), a technical fall from Carter Starocci (184) and a major decision from Mitchell Mesenbrink (165).
The Nittany Lions won the close ones, too. Freshman fill-in Kyison Garcia, in his dual debut at Penn State, notched a 4-1 win at 133 against Nolan Wertanen and third-ranked 141-pounder Beau Bartlett used a third-period reversal and a 70-second riding time advantage to beat #11 Sergio Lemley 3-2 at 141.
