Oklahoma State won 9-6 against Florida State at the PVCC tournament opener. Ruby Meylan shined with 9 Ks, Tallen Edwards, Amanda Hasler homered for OSU.

Oklahoma State softball won their season-opener against Florida State, 9-6. 

The two top-ranked teams opened play at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, and despite a late surge by the Seminoles, the Cowgirls were able to put up the W. 

Ruby Meylan delivered an impressive pitching debut, going 5 innings with 9 strikeouts and 2 earned runs. 

Tallen Edwards, Amanda Hasler, and Micaela Wark all hit homeruns for the Cowgirls as OSU very nearly run-ruled the Noles. 

Despite starting slow, Florida State showed some resilience with Jaysoni Beachum and Kennedy Harp both hitting home runs in the 7th inning, but the Seminoles fell short of a comeback. 

These teams will meet again to close out the Puerto Vallarta tournament on Feb. 8.

The box score will look closer than the game actually was, but the Cowgirls end up with the win. 

Crandall gives up two homers in the 7th inning but is able to get the ground out. 

Ruby Meylan was dazzling in her debut for Ok State, as she tosses 5 innings and gets 9 Ks, with only 2 earned runs. 

Halser, War, and Edwards each hit a homerun for OSU. 

Florida State fought valiantly towards the end, but it was too little, too late. 

These teams will play again on Feb. 8 to close out PVCC session 1.
