An infield hit and a pair of walks loaded the bases for FSU to kick off the only game on the Seminoles’ schedule Friday.
Florida State opened the event Thursday with a loss to No. 4 Oklahoma State then ended the day with a win over Northern Colorado.
Offensively, beyond Dack’s blast, sophomore Isa Torres collected two of FSU’s eight hits on the day, going 2 for 4 and scoring a run.
Four Florida State pitchers saw action in the win, with senior Annabelle Widra (2 2/3), sophomore Ashtyn Danley (1 1/3), redshirt senior Julia Apsel (2) and freshman Jazzy Francik combining to shut down the Bulldogs.
After making her collegiate debut and picking up her first win Thursday, Francik returned for the final inning against Louisiana Tech and struck out the side to secure her first collegiate save. The win went to Apsel.
The Seminoles had to be thinking early about the run rule coming into play while leading 6-0, but the Bulldogs battled back with three runs in the fourth inning.
Louisiana Tech had six hits in the game, with redshirt senior Nicole Hammoude and senior Claire Raley each going 2 for 3 in the contest.
The losing pitcher of record was sophomore right-hander Mattison Buster (the Conference USA ERA leader), who did not record an out, before leaving the game.
Up next for Louisiana Tech is a meeting with Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. Eastern.
The Seminoles return to action Saturday for a pair of games. They’ll face Louisiana Tech again at 5 p.m. EST then end the weekend with an 8 p.m. rematch with OSU.

History Between Florida State And Louisiana Tech
This week is 17th meeting between Florida State and Louisiana Tech. LA Tech leads the all-time series 11-3-2.
In 1984, FSU and LA Tech battled to a 0-0 tie early in the season. The same thing happened a year later – to the day. When they met again in 1985, Louisiana Tech won 2-1 and 4-3.
Postseason play didn’t start off much better for Florida State.
They first played in a regional series in 1986, with LA Tech winning 4-0 and 1-0.
Finally, during the 1987 regular season, the Seminoles picked up their first win over the Bulldogs, winning 2-1.
In the 1988 regular season, LA Tech won 7-0. The Bulldogs got the best of FSU again in the playoffs, winning 6-1 in the regional round.
In 1989, Louisiana Tech pulled off the triple, winning 1-0 two times in the regular season and 3-1 in regional play.
After a break from each other, the two teams met again in 1994, with FSU winning 2-0.
In two 1997 regular-season meetings, LA Tech won 6-2 and 3-2.
The two teams didn’t play again until 2019, with FSU winning 4-0.
About Florida State Softball
Florida State had a down season in 2024, at least by FSU standards, failing to make the NCAA Women’s College World Series after a runner-up finish to Oklahoma in 2023.
The Seminoles were 46-16 last season, which included a 19-5 record in Atlantic Coast Conference play and finishing in second place behind Duke in the regular-season standings. FSU was the runner-up to Duke at the ACC Softball Championship, too.
There’s optimism for FSU as the new season gets underway, as since 2014, the Seminoles have not had back-to-back seasons where they did not advance to the WCWS.
Entering the new campaign, Florida State landed at No. 12 on the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 and at No. 2 on the 2025 ACC Softball Preseason Poll, earning four first-place votes. Duke topped the ACC rankings and comes in at No. 8 on the national poll.
This trip to Mexico marks the first time the Seminoles are playing outside of the United States.
The last time FSU started a season away from home was 2018 – also the last time the Seminoles were softball national champions.

About Louisiana Tech Softball

This week’s journey to Puerto Vallarta marks the second time in program history Louisiana Tech has played outside of the United States. The first was the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in 2018, with the Bulldogs posting a 1-4 record.
LA Tech holds an all-time advantage over Florida State, 11-3-2.
