The 2025 College Baseball Opening Day follows Division II and Division III teams that have been playing for several weeks now. But nothing screams “the march to Omaha starts now” quite like the buzz of Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas at the Shriners Children’s Baseball Showdown, which starts at noon ET today with Oklahoma State and Clemson. 

For the last five seasons, the College Baseball Showdown has kicked off the year with the best teams, best conferences, best prospects and best coaches showing off their teams over three days during the Opening Weekend. Last year, the fun was spread out over three weekends and included the eventual national champion, Tennessee. 

And it’s even bigger in 2025. 

With the expansion and movements of conferences across the country, the field of teams at the College Baseball Showdown has never been larger. The SEC, ACC and Big 12 sent six teams to the Showdown in Week 1. In Week 2 and 3 at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series presented by Kubota, features programs from the Big 12, Big Ten, SEC and even the Pac-12 (yes, technically still alive) in the form of Oregon State. 

Over three weeks in Arlington, nine teams in the D1 Baseball preseason poll will play. And that’s just in Arlington. 

Don’t Miss The College Baseball Classic

The College Baseball Classic begins on Open Day as well with two more ranked teams in action: No. 7 Oregon State and No. 25 (at Baseball America) Indiana Baseball. 

The Hoosiers, with star prospect Devin Taylor, are one of the favorites to win the Big Ten, while Oregon State, the last program not from the SEC to win the national championship, is trying to do just that. 

The Beavers will play at 2 p.m. ET against Xavier, of the BIG EAST, which streams every conference game and home game on FloCollege and FloBaseball. At 7 p.m. ET, Indiana opens against UNLV. 

Ever Seen The Corpus Christi Bay Bridge, America? Here’s Your Chance

In South Texas, nestled under the Corpus Christi Bay Bridge along the edge of one of America’s busiest ports, is Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas. The stadium hosts Illinois of the Big Ten and Abilene Christian at 2 p.m. and Kansas of the Big 12 and Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 6 p.m. ET time. 

Next week, Whataburger Field hosts the Kleberg Bank College Classic from Feb. 21-23, which features UCLA and Michigan State of the Big Ten, Washington State (also a part of the Pac-12) and Texas A&M Corpus-Christi.

Where Is The 2025 College Baseball Showdown?

The Shriners Children’s College Showdown and two-weekend Amegy Bank College Baseball Series presented by Kubota will take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and feature some of the top teams in the nation. 

The 2025 season will mark the fifth consecutive year of college baseball at Globe Life Field – home of the world champion Texas Rangers – and the second straight year the action will span three weekends. 

When Is The College Baseball Showdown?

The first weekend of the festivities, the Shriners Children’s College Showdown, will begin on Friday, Feb. 14 and will run through Feb. 16. 

The following two weeks of action, the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series, will take place Feb. 21-23 and Feb. 28-March 2.

To keep the momentum going between the weekends, the series also will include four midweek games at Globe Life Field. Those contests will take place Feb. 18, Feb. 19, Feb. 26 and March 5.
