SEC Baseball Preview 2025: No. 1 Texas A&M Atop Best League
Texas A&M Baseball enters the 2025 NCAA Baseball season as the top team in the nation's best conference for baseball

The best conference in college baseball was already the SEC, and somehow it got even better this offseason.
Texas and Oklahoma joined the group, adding teams that won a combined 76 games and made two NCAA appearances in 2024.

But those two teams along with 14 other programs in the SEC will be looking up at the NCAA runner-up when the season starts as Texas A&M Baseball, despite losing its coach to rival Texas (Jim Schlossnagle) this offseason, is the overwhelming favorite to win the SEC and the National Championship.
The Aggies received 10 first-place votes in the SEC Preseason Coaches Poll. Four players were on the Preseason All-SEC First Team and two more on the second team.
The Aggies are the unanimous preseason No. 1, getting the No. 1 spot in every notable preseason poll, including D1Baseball Top 25.
Jace LaViolette The Top Prospect In The SEC
He could very well go No. 1 and the best player in the American League, Aaron Judge, is probably a good comp, as Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette is the No. 1 prospect in the loaded league.
LaViolette nearly dragged the Aggies to the championship last season and he’s overtaken Ethan Holliday as Baseball America’s top prospect in the 2025 MLB Draft class. He’s FloBaseball’s top prospect in the preseason composite rankings.
SEC Baseball Preseason Rankings
SEC Coaches are picking the Aggies to win the league, but familiar faces are right there, including the defending national champions, Tennessee.
Five schools received first-place votes to win the SEC title. Texas A&M led with 10 votes, followed by Arkansas with three. Tennessee, LSU, and Florida each garnered one first-place vote. Tennessee was picked to finish second, with Arkansas third, LSU fourth and Florida fifth.
The Preseason All-SEC First and Second Teams were selected by the conference’s head coaches, with 12 schools represented on the first team. Tennessee and Texas A&M led all programs with six combined selections. The Aggies had four first-team picks, while the Volunteers secured three.

SEC Baseball Has Won Every NCAA Championship Since 2019
Oregon State Baseball was the last team not from the SEC to win the College Baseball World Series. That happened in 2018. Since then, the SEC has won it every year and what makes it more impressive is that it’s been a different program every season.
Vanderbilt won the title in 2019 and two years later Mississippi State won in 2021. That was followed by Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee. The SEC has won the last six of seven CWS titles, with 2020 being canceled and Florida winning it all in 2017.
