The AHL All-Star Skills Competition is one of the most fun events on the hockey calendar. And because of the way this year’s schedule worked out, the AHL All-Star Classic is the only All-Star event in North American pro hockey this year. So you won’t want to miss this.

We now know which AHL All-Stars will be competing in Sunday night’s Skills Competition. 

First, a quick look at the format…

Though the AHL All-Star Challenge will feature teams representing each division on Monday night, the Skills Competition is conference vs. conference – East vs. West. Take a look at the event list below to figure out how teams will score points in this competitive event.

Note that participants are subject to change right up until the start of the event.

All Events And Participants At The 2025 AHL All-Star Skills Competition

Event 1 – Inglasco Puck Control Relay

Event description: There will be four races throughout the relay. Players take the puck from one end of the ice to the other and back, weaving in and out of cones along the way. Race 1 and Race 2 features three players, while Race 3 and Race 4 are 1-on-1. The winning team of each race will earn one goal for their team’s point total in the skills competition.

Race 1

  • East: Olle Lycksell (Lehigh Valley), John Leonard (Charlotte), Isak Rosén (Rochester)
  • West: Ryan Suzuki (Chicago), Rory Kerins (Calgary), Elias Salomonsson (Manitoba)

Race 2

  • East: Dalibor Dvorsky (Springfield), Simon Nemec (Utica), Trevor Carrick (Charlotte)
  • West: Scott Morrow (Chicago), Justin Hryckowian (Texas), Grigori Denisenko (Henderson)

Race 3

  • East: Owen Pickering (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton)
  • West: Cameron Hebig (Tucson)

Race 4

  • East: Jeremy Davies (Belleville)
  • West: Jani Nyman (Coachella Valley)

Event 2: CCM Fastest Skater

Event description: Players must complete one full lap around the ice, starting from the red line. The player with the fastest overall time will earn his team a goal. The team with the fastest average time involving all three participants will also earn a goal.

  • East: Isak Rosén (Rochester), Trey Fix-Wolansky (Cleveland), Trevor Carrick (Charlotte)
  • West: Jacob MacDonald (Colorado), Matthew Savoie (Bakersfield), Jani Nyman (Coachella Valley)

Event 3: Fortune Tires Rapid Fire

Event Description: It’s goalie vs. shooters in a rapid fire contest with two shooters from one conference shooting against a goalie from the other conference. All eight goaltenders will participate. The team that makes the most total saves over the course of the competition will be awarded a goal.

  • Round 1: East’s Michael DiPietro (Providence) vs. West’s Ty Mueller (Abbotsford) and Cole Guttman (Rockford)
  • Round 2: West’s Sebastian Cossa (Grand Rapids) vs. East’s Logan Shaw (Toronto) and Alex Limoges (Hershey)
  • Round 3: East’s Devon Levi (Rochester) vs. West’s Sam Colangelo (San Diego) and Brendan Gaunce (Iowa)
  • Round 4: West’s Devin Cooley (Calgary) vs. East’s Simon Nemec (Utica) and Ethan Bear (Hershey)
  • Round 5: East’s Dylan Garand (Hartford) vs. East’s Elias Salomonsson (Manitoba) and Kevin Korchinski (Rockford)
  • Round 6 West’s Matt Murray (Milwaukee) vs. East’s Alex Belizile (Hartford) and Logan Mailloux (Laval)
  • Round 7: East’s Dennis Bildeby (Toronto) vs. West’s Curtis McKenzie (Texas) and Grigori Denisenko (Henderson)
  • Round 8: West’s Yaroslav Askarov (San Jose) vs. East’s Brian Pinho (Bridgeport) and Alex Steeves (Toronto)

Event 4: CCM Hardest Shot

Event Description: Players from each team take shots, aiming for the highest speed in miles per hour. The team with the highest average speed will earn one goal. The player who has the hardest shot will earn his team one goal as well.

  • East: John Leonard (Charlotte), Ethan Bear (Hershey), Derrick Pouliot (Syracuse), Emil Bemstrom (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton)
  • West: Joakim Kemell (Milwaukee), Samuel Fagemo (Ontario), Andrew Poturalski (San Jose), Curtis McKenzie (Texas)

Event 5: Silvercrest Accuracy Shooting

Event Description: Players attempt to hit four targets in the fewest amount of attempts. The player with the most hits in the fewest attempts earns one goal for his team. Meanwhile,t he team with the most total hits in the fewest attempts will also earn one goal.

  • East: Owen Beck (Laval), Alex Belzile (Hartford), Olle Lycksell (Lehigh Valley), Dalibor Dvorsky (Springfield)
  • West: Scott Morrow (Chicago), Matthew Savoie (Bakersfield), Samuel Fagemo (Ontario), Andrew Poturalski (San Jose)

Event 6: Silvercrest Pass and Score

Event Description: Players from the opposing team skate in on the goalie three-on-zero, passing and making attempts to score goals. Each individual goal will be added to the scoring team’s point total.

  • Round 1: West’s Sebastian Cossa vs. East’s Alex Limoges, Owen Beck and Owen Pickering
  • Round 2: East’s Michael DiPietro vs. West’s Ryan Suzuki, Austin Watson (Grand Rapids) and Sam Colangelo
  • Round 3: West’s Devin Cooley vs. East’s Dalibor Dvorsky, Alex Steeves and Jeremy Davies
  • Round 4: East’s Devin Levi vs. West’s Brendan Gaunce, Joakim Kemell, Kevin Korchinski
  • Round 5: West’s Matt Murray vs. East’s Trey Fix-Wolansky, Logan Mailloux, Derrick Pouliot
  • Round 6: East’s Dylan Garand vs. West’s Just Hryckowian, Ty Mueller and Rory Kerins
  • Round 7: West’s Yaroslav Askarov vs. East’s Logan Shaw, Brian Pinho and Brett Murray (Rochester)
  • Round 8: East’s Dennis Hildeby vs. West’s Cole Guttman, Cameron Hebig and Jacob MacDonald

Event 7: Upper Deck Breakaway Relay

Event Description: The grand finale of the AHL All-Star Skills Competition is the breakaway relay which is similar to a shootout. Each goalie gets paired against five shooters from the opposing team. Every single all-star is involved in this event and each individual goal scored counts towards the overall team score.

All players participate.
