Shelby Houlihan Returns From Ban, Wins 3k At Razorback Invitational
American Record holder Shelby Houlihan returns from four-year ban to break Tyson Center women's 3k facility record previously held by Parker Valby.

Back from a four-year competition ban, Olympian and 1500m American Record holder Shelby Houlihan made her return to the track today, running 8:31.56 to win the 3,000m at the 2025 Razorback Invitational at Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center in Fayetteville, AR. Her time set a new meet record and decimated Parker Valby's facility record (8:42.29) set at the 2024 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

One of the most decorated middle distance athletes in U.S. history, Houlihan made headlines in 2021 when she was given a four-year competition ban by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after testing positive for an anabolic steroid, nandrolone.
Despite the controversy of her positive test, Houlihan has maintained her innocence, attributing the positive test to contaminated food.
During her ban, Houlihan trained on her own, without a coach or team, all while eyeing a return to competition.
FloTrack is releasing an original short film, "Shelby Houlihan: Rising" on Monday, February 3 at 6:00 PM ET, highlighting the emotional and physical toll of being at the center of a doping controversy and Shelby's commitment to making a comeback.
Houlihan will be in action next on Saturday, Feb. 8, competing in the mile at the 2025 Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational LIVE on FloTrack.
