Nike’s Elise Cranny ran a time of 4:20.83, securing the #6 spot on the U.S. all-time list. In addition to the impressive time, she also broke the 11-year-old facility record previously held by Mary Cain.
BYU junior Riley Chamberlain made history with her performance as well, clocking a 4:26.19 to become the #5 fastest collegiate runner in history. Her time is also the second-best collegiate mark of the year, earning her a third-place finish in the race.
Cranny took control of the race from the start. After the pace setter dropped out, Cranny was closely followed by Adidas’ Gabbi Jennings. With just over 600 meters to go, Cranny began pulling away. From there, it became a race against the clock, and she came out on top with the win, setting a facility record, running an indoor personal best, and securing the U.S. #6 all-time performance.
