The North Dakota State Bison have an impressive resume since their team was founded in 1976. With Summit League championships in 10 of 12 seasons from 2008 to 2019, six Women's College World Series appearances and a Division II WCWS championship title to their name, NDSU Softball has seen its fair share of winning seasons.

But recent history has proven to be the Bisons biggest challenge, with the 2024 season ending in a 17-37 overall record. A five game losing streak capped off the year.

The Bisons head coach, Darren Mueller, will enter his 24th season with NDSU, and will need to help the Bisons find their rhythm early as they face the 2025 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

The 2025 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge hits the fields on Feb. 6-15 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with NDSU Softball beginning play on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

NDSU Softball started its 2024 season at the UNC Wilmington Tournament rather than the Puerto Vallarta Challenge, facing five teams in Wilmington, N.C. The Bison tacked an early 3-2 record to their season at the tournament.
