Late-game heroics allowed No. 1 Auburn to escape with a big win over a formidable conference opponent.

The win prevented No. 2 Duke from overtaking the spot as the best team in college basketball. Duke is in action tonight against NC State after winning its lone game, Jan. 25, over Wake Forest.

Find the rest of the changes and shockers from the latest Division I NCAA Men's Basketball rankings.

Auburn Survives For Another Week

  • Another week has passed, and the Tigers are once again the nation's best team and still unanimously.
  • In its first game a week after scrapping by Georgia men's basketball on Jan. 18, the Tigers survived another scare, this time against the previously ranked No. 6 Tennessee men's basketball with a last-minute three by Miles Kelly with 30 seconds left.
  • Auburn MBB is on the road to play against LSU and No. 23 Ole Miss this week.

UConn Still In The Rankings?!

  • This past Saturday, the back-to-back defending champion UConn Huskies lost their third game out of their last five after falling to Xavier.
  • Coming into the game, they were ranked No. 19, but they have now dropped six spots to No. 25, just barely getting in over Michigan by two votes.
  • With the loss, the Huskies are the second team in the rankings with six losses on the season, behind Illinois. For UConn, the question is whether they will make the NCAA tournament in March to defend the national championship.

Biggest Dropper: Ole Miss Men's Basketball

  • The Rebels came in ranked 18 the previous weekend after losing to Mississippi State men's basketball on Jan. 18.
  • After this week, Ole Miss has dropped to No. 25. It lost to Texas A&M by one point and suffered another close loss to Missouri, and it is now on a three-game losing streak.
