No. 2 South Carolina snapped LSU's 20-game winning streak last week to keep pace with No. 1 UCLA as the Gamecocks continue to bounce back from an early season loss.

South Carolina handed Kim Mulkey and LSU a 66-56 loss on Jan. 24 in SEC action but USC can't celebrate long as the defending champs conference schedule only gets more challenging.

A great deal of basketball was displayed last week in women's college basketball, which could mean something for teams going down the stretch.

Here's what to know about the latest Division I NCAA Women's Basketball rankings.

Top Team Performances And Matchups

  • The biggest game in women's basketball last week was easily No. 2 South Carolina hosting No. 5 LSU on Friday. South Carolina knocked off the Tigers and ended its unbeaten streak at 20 with a 66-56 win.
  • South Carolina women's basketball has another big game tonight on the road against No. 18 Tennessee basketball.
  • All four top teams stayed intact, and No. 1 UCLA women's basketball is now the only team not to suffer defeat this season.

Other Results That May Have Affected The Rankings

  • Maryland Women's Basketball had the most challenging week among the ranked teams. They started the week with a lopsided loss to No. 5 Texas WBB, then blew a 15-point lead to Ohio State women's basketball, and then capped off things last night with a loss to the No. 1 team in the country.
  • Texas, on the other hand, had one of its best weeks of the year, with clutch, last-second wins over Tennessee and Ole Miss combined with that large win against Maryland.
  • Those three wins were good enough to ascend two spots from last week and trade places with LSU.

No Team Drops Out Of Top 25

  • Although many teams had bad weeks with taking multiple losses, they still were able to stay in the top rankings due to them losing to other top-ranked teams.
  • West Virginia women's basketball dropped the most, five spots, after Maryland, which dropped six.
