The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have had quite a rough few decades of play.

The last time that Rutgers Softball made an appearance at an NCAA Tournament was in 1994. The team has struggled to make positive seasons a regular occurrence, but has had some better luck recently.

The Scarlet Knights were invited to the National Invitational Softball Championship twice in the last decade, in 2019 and 2022, but lost both times.

However, they recorded a 32-25 overall record in 2023 and followed up with a 33-22 overall season in 2024. A loss to Ohio State and Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament ended each of those seasons respectively.

If Rutgers Softball wants to keep the momentum going, the 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic will serve as an early challenge for the team. The Scarlet Knights will hit the fields of Cathedral City, Calif., on Thursday, Feb. 20.

With chances to start its season off with a bang and a shot at a third season in a row over .500, here's everything to know about Rutgers Softball at the 2025 Mary Nutter Classic.

When Is The 2025 Mary Nutter Softball Tournament?

The 2025 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic will take place Feb. 20-23. Games begin Thursday, with the final games played on Sunday.

The Mary Nutter Classic returns to the Big League Dreams Complex in Cathedral City, California. Teams will play across the complex's five fields.
