The Rugby Europe Championship has evolved through different formats over the years. As the 2025 edition begins Jan. 31, here's every champion since 1952.

The second tier of international rugby went through numerous iterations throughout the 20th century and into the 2000s. 

Where France and Italy used to be contenders in these tournaments, they have since moved to Six Nations. 

Since 2000, though, the competition has only had two different names, both created by the governing body Rugby Europe. 

From 2000-2016, the competition was known as European Nations Cup, and since 2016, it has been known as the Rugby Europe Championship. 

Georgia's national rugby team has dominated in these most recent formats, winning 16 titles since 2000. Romania has won five titles, and Portugal has won one. 

The 2025 Rugby Europe Championship will be broadcast on FloRugby and features Georgia, Romania, Portugla, Spain and more squads over two pools. 

The competition begins Jan. 31 with Romania vs. Germany.
