The Warrior Open has over 40 teams and 27 unattached wrestlers competing in this year’s tournament. Below are registered high schoolers with expected weight and national ranking.

Alyssa Quezaire (103), Kaelani Shufeldt (117), Anayka Besco (131), Noelle Gaffney (160), Bo Geibe (160), Larissa Gallo (180), Eliana Bommorito (235) are expected to attend. 

Shufeldt is a two-time All-American and national finalist for Lock Haven who will compete for North Central next season. Geibe was an All-American for Siena Heights, and Gallo is a two-time NJCAA national finalist. 

Top-ranked Life University (NAIA) is sending eight wrestlers: Diana Gonzalez (110), Ariana Martinez (124), Anna Krejsa (124), Sarah Savidge (131), Oliva Mottley (131), Zaynah McBryde (138), Ugochi Anunobi (160), and Maggie Graham (180).  

Teams competing are Adrian, Albion, Alma, Baker, Bethany College, BPC, Campbellsville, Cumberlands, Friends, Hastings, Hiram, Indiana Tech, John Carroll, Joliet JC, Life, Lindsey Wilson, Lourdes, Manchester, Missouri Baptist, Missouri Valley, Montreat, Mount Union, Ottawa, Otterbein, Providence, Rio Grande, Rochester, Siena Heights, Southern Oregon, Southern Virginia, St Andrews, Tiffin, Trine, William Penn, Davenport, Eastern Oregon, West Liberty, and Baldwin Wallace.

Dual teams competing in the Warrior Duals on Friday, January 24 are Brewton Parker, Campbellsville, Hiram, Indiana Tech, Life, Lindsey Wilson, Lourdes, Montreat, Rochester, Siena Heights, and St Andrews.

Top-ranked Birds Are Flying High

The Iowa Hawkeyes (NCAA) and the Life University Running Eagles (NAIA) are the top teams in their respective divisions, and they proved it last week. Life defeated Presbyterian, 34-10, on January 15 and Iowa defeated Grand Valley State, 35-7, on January 18.

Is William Penn Making A Second Semester Push?

The Statesmen finished 10th at the NWCA National Duals on January 11, 2025. Don’t count them out at the NAIA Championships on March 14-15 in Wichita, Kansas. 

Jaked Kadel added 2024 NAIA champion Caitlyn Davis and Nigerian Olympians Esther Kolawole and Christianah Ogunsanya to its line-up for a second-semester push. 

Both competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics and will participate in the Warrior Open on Saturday, January 25, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ogunsanya will wrestle at 117 and Kolawole at 138. 

What Will We Learn From The McKendree Duals?

Grand Valley State, Lindenwood, McKendree, Quincy, and William Jewell compete at the McKendree Duals on January 26. A Grand Valley State vs McKendree dual is looming. Will each team bring its best lineup to the party? There are several good individuals from every team. Will they compete this weekend?
