The two-time champion is looking to make it three.

Bryce Hoppel, 800m world indoor champion and winner of two men's 800m competitions at the Millrose Games, will look to win yet again at the 2025 Millrose Games on Feb. 8, facing off against other notable competitors including new 1,000m indoor American record holder Josh Koey and 2024 NCAA outdoor champion Shane Cohen, according to reports.

Joining the pros, too, will be star high school sophomore Cooper Lutkenhaus of Justin Northwest (TX), who set an incredible 1:47.58 U.S. high school freshman class record during the 2024 outdoor season.

Hoppel will be searching for back-to-back wins at the Millrose Games in the event, and his third win in the past four years. 1:45.54 propelled Hoppel to the win in 2024, and he won back in 2022 in 1:46.05.

He's coming off his most successful season to date, placing fourth at the Paris Olympics in the 800m in August and setting a new American record outdoors of 1:41.67 in that Olympic final.

But Hoppel certainly faces stiff competition, particularly when you look at someone like Hoey who has already started off his season on a tear. Last Saturday, he smashed the American indoor record over 1,000m at the Quaker Invitational in Philadelphia, clocking 2:14.48 and moving to No. 2 on the world indoor all-time list.

Cohen will also be a competitor to watch, someone who's known for his killer kick down the homestretch of races. The former Virginia standout and now professional for Nike last raced at the U.S. Olympic Trials where he finished sixth in the final in a PR of 1:44.65.

Lutkenhaus mixing up with the pros will also serve as an interesting storyline to follow. Keep in mind that he clocked 1:49 or faster three times during his freshman outdoor season, including his impressive 1:47.58 mark to win the elite Brooks PR Invitational in June.

He's never ran a race on the indoor oval, but the 1:47.67 U.S. high school indoor national record set by Hoey himself as a Bishop Shanahan (PA) senior in 2018 shouldn't be out of the question if Lutkenhaus comes out swinging.

Also competing in the field will be Jonah Koech, who finished fifth in the men's 800m at the U.S. Olympic Trials last summer, along with Irish record holder Mark English.
