With a driving distance of approximately 100 miles, it makes sense for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic to be part of the Cal State Fullerton softball schedule.

That again will be the case in 2025, with the Titans set to make the trip from Fullerton, California, to Cathedral City, California, this time looking to improve on the 2-3 performance they had at the event last year.

The latest edition of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic will take place Feb. 20-23.

Fullerton is coming off a 39-19 season that included a 22-5 record in Big West play.

The Titans won the conference’s regular-season title on the final weekend of the season, which earned the champions their 32nd overall appearance in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship.

The Titans’ 2024 campaign came to an end in the regional round of the tournament, where they fell to Stanford, one of the eight teams that advanced to the NCAA Women’s College World Series.

Fullerton’s 2025 season will begin at home Feb. 7 for the Easton Classic (Feb. 7-9), and it will come under new head coach Gina Oaks Garcia, whose hiring was announced in August 2024.

That season-opening event will be followed by the Bear Down Fiesta in Tucson, Arizona (Feb. 14-16).

Then, the 2025 Mary Nutter, which will feature 31 teams, headlined by Tennessee, Nebraska and Utah. Fullerton is scheduled to face Arkansas, California, Bethune-Cookman, Saint Mary’s and Utah.

The Mary Nutter will take place from Feb. 20-23 at the unique Big League Dreams Complex, which has five fields available for the event.

In its last appearance at the Mary Nutter in 2024, Fullerton defeated Tennessee and Seattle but fell to Missouri, Mississippi State and Nebraska.

Along with the nostalgic fields, the Big League Dreams venues include a restaurant and bar, batting cages, play area for children, stadium seating and space for other sports (hockey, soccer, sand volleyball), events and competitions.

Big League Dreams Cathedral City was the first of the eight BLD properties to open, doing so in 1998. The park includes five fields. Among them, Boston’s Fenway Park, Chicago’s Wrigley Field and New York’s Yankee Stadium.
