The AHL All-Star Rosters presented by FloHockey just got a couple of updates as we approach the AHL All-Star Classic slated for Feb. 2-3 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, Calif.

Utica Comets defenseman and 2022 No. 2 overall pick Simon Nemec has been added to the North Division’s roster, while Rockford IceHogs forward Cole Guttman will be playing for the Central Division squad.

Nemec will be replacing rookie teammate Seamus Casey, who has been out with an injury since December and will not be available for the event. Guttman replaces teammate Frank Nazar, who has spent the last several weeks with the Chicago Blackhawks and looks like he’ll remain there.

After spending most of last season and starting this season with the New Jersey Devils, Nemec was sent back to Utica to refine his game. He has certainly seemed to regain the offensive touch that was part of his being picked second overall by the Devils in 2022. With the Comets this season, Nemec has 16 points in 23 games.

Guttman is currently leading the IceHogs in scoring with 33 points in 35 games. The 25-year-old is in his third season of pro hockey and has appeared in 41 games in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks. In 113 career AHL games, Guttman has posted an impressive 103 points.
