Canmore is of course the home to beautiful mountain scenery and the AJHL’s Canmore Eagles, who will be in action on home ice Saturday night against the Drumheller Dragons in an important AJHL tilt.

Hockey Day In Canada, an annual festival in celebration of Canada’s favorite game, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. All seven Canadian NHL teams are in action, with a marathon day of programming on Sportsnet helmed by Hockey Night In Canada host Ron MacLean, who has been part of this event since the very beginning.

This year’s Hockey Day will incorporate some of the great local hockey in Canmore to go along with all of the NHL action.

It all starts Friday night with an NHL Celebrity and Alumni hockey game played in Canmore. Among the players expected to suit up are MacLean, Canadian Olympian and Sportsnet analyst Jennifer Botterill, and former NHLer and current Sportsnet analyst Kevin Bieksa. That game is at 9:30 p.m. ET and will be carried live on FloHockey.

At 2 p.m. ET, Airdrie CFR Bisons will take on the Calgary NW Flames in a showcase of some of the elite minor hockey that takes place in Alberta. FloHockey streams games from the Alberta Elite Hockey League all season. 

The Canmore Eagles will have the nightcap as they take on Drumheller at 9 p.m. ET Saturday night.

The Eagles are currently the first-place team in the AJHL with a 23-9-4-1 record entering the weekend. Canmore native Owen Jones is among the team leaders with 35 points so far this season, while Hudson Sedo of St. Albert, Alberta, has been a standout rookie goaltender for the club this season with a .925 save percentage.

Sportsnet is planning to broadcast live look-ins and highlights from those games, but you can watch them in their entirety on FloHockey.
