TCS London Marathon organizers have announced that Emile Cairess, who finished third at the 2024 event, will headline a talented field of British athletes set to compete at the 2025 TCS London Marathon.

Joining Cairess on the start line will be Alex Yee, the Olympic gold medalist in the triathlon making his marathon debut, along with Mahamed Mahamed, fourth at last year's London Marathon. Also making her marathon debut in the women's field is Eilish McColgan, who has bounced back from injuries over the past several years to now hopefully give her first go at 26.2 miles.

The 2025 London Marathon, streaming live on FloTrack on, will take place on April 27.

Cairess enters as a big name for Great Britain -- and for good reason. He had his big breakout last year at the London Marathon, running 2:06:46 to finish only behind Alexander Mutiso and Ethiopian great Kenenisa Bekele. With that, Cairess also became just the second British male to ever finish on the podium in London.

He then went on to finish fourth at the Paris Olympics in the marathon in 2:07:29.

"My runs at the TCS London Marathon and at the Paris Olympic Games were really satisfying and shows the hard work is paying off," said Cairess in a statement. "I love racing the TCS London Marathon because it brings together the best athletes in the world."

Meanwhile, McColgan was set to race her first marathon back in 2023, but has had to shake injuries in an attempt to stay healthy over the past couple years. Now, she said in a statement that she is looking forward to finally running in London this April.

"After a tough 12 months of injury, I'm excited to finally toe the line and start the next chapter of my career on the roads," McColgan said.

Other notable British athletes slated to race include Phil Sesemann, Marc Scott and Jack Rowe on the men's side, as well as Rose Harvey, Charlotte Purdue, Phily Bowden and Lucy Reid in the women's field.

Looking at the field internationally, both defending champions are set to return -- Mutiso and Peres Jepchirchir. Additionally, Paris Olympic champions Tamirat and Sifan Hassan will race, along with women's world record holder Ruth Chepngetich.

Organizers said that the full elite fields for both the men and women will be announced on Thursday.
